IMPORTANT NOTICE

During the next period of time, the Thecus Wiki will migrate to a new site - the NAS Website. The migration is part of an improvement initiative, which includes giving the site a new look and making it more user friendly.

During the migration information may exist both at the old and new site, however slowly pages should start to be located mainly at the new site. Please see the NAS Website for details.

PAGE MOVED

This pages has been moved to the NAS Website as part of the migration process. Please go to the NAS Website and locate the updated version.

This page will remain for a period of time until the migration has been succesfully completed. However it will be in read-only mode for which reason it is likely to be out of date.

Raid Building

  • While creating RAID5, be sure to logout the Thecus otherwise the building process will be very very slow.
  • Before formatting consider the optimum stripesize. The default 64 kb is ok for small files but for large files a larger stripesize is preferred.

Printserver

  • The printserver prevents the spindown of the disks. There is a workaround for this but you have to modify the printmodule

Passive ports for FTP

  • The webinterface doesn't allow to specify passive ports, but here's a way to add them: Log into the N4100+ via ssh. cd to /img/bin/rc. Edit the file rc.ftpd. Depending if you use anonymous access or not, edit line 37, 41 or 45 (or all three of them). At the end of the line, before the quote (") add -p [desired port]:[desired end port]. Save file, then do a ./rc.ftpd restart. You now have passive ftp enabled.

USBCopy and firmware 2.00.05

  • The path where USB devices are mounted has changed and the module does not work anymore. A workaround is to modify the module changing the file ./USBCopy/WWW/index.htm at line 293 replacing usbhdd with USBHDD.
